Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1: SD636+5000mAh battery, RN5Pro Killer ?

A vanilla surprise!

Asus launched its, next level budget competitor, Zenfone Max Pro M1 on 23rd of April which is yet to go on sale.

Under the hood, ASUS Zenfone Max Pro has Qualcomm’s SnapDragon 636 mobile platform (Kryo 260 octa-core clocked at 1.8GHz) that is coupled up with Adreno 509 GPU. It has 3GB(RAM) and 32GB(ROM) or 4/6GB(RAM) and 64GB(ROM) variant.

First of all, the best thing about this phone is the dedicated micro SD card slot which can hold up to 400GB of card. Thus it will not only pleasure those waiting for a Xiaomi counterpart also but will also be like a treat for those who want to upgrade.

Display

The display on Max Pro is a 6-inch 18:9 IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 1080×2160 px (Full HD+). It has a pixel density of 402 ppi and has support for multi-touch.

Camera

On the back is a Dual camera setup. As we know, the 3GB and 4GB RAM variant will have a 13MP + 5 MP camera setup. While the 6GB RAM variant will have 16MP + 5 MP camera set up. LED flash is present on all variants and the camera can shoot videos upto 2160p (4K) resolution at 30fps.

On the front is a 8MP selfie-shooter with an f/2.2 aperture. The 6GB RAM variant is said to boast a 16MP selfie-shooter. There is a front flash for low light selfies.

 

Talking about the connectivity we have less things to talk about. It sports WiFi 802.11 with b/g/n bands, Bluetooth 4.2 is there, micro USB (2.0) and a 3.5mm jack is present as well.

The USP of this device is the big 5000 non-removable battery which can last up to 2 days. It has support for fast charging as well.

Vanilla stock Android Oreo 8.1 is there thus you will most probably receive the Android P and less likely get the Android Q.

Conclusion

Zenfone Max Pro is going to be on sale on May 3rd. The pricing we know:

  • 3GB, 32GB will retail at ₹ 10,999 or $ 165.
  • 4GB, 64GB will retail at ₹ 12,999 or $ 195.
  • The 6GB, 64GB might retail at ₹ 14,999 or $ 225
